Matthew received Third Prize and was the youngest winner of the 2015 Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition in New York City. In 2016, he was awarded Second Prize at both International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington DC and Los Angeles Young Musicians International Competition. For three consecutive years, Matthew won his division at the KMTA. Aside from piano, he is the state winner of the 2014 Math Kangaroo in USA competition and winner of the 2017 Geography Bee contest at his school. Matthew is a finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) competition in Spokane, Washington on March 16th, and he will perform a preview of his MTNA program at Schmitt Music’s Steinway Anniversary Celebration.
STEINWAY & SONS was founded in 1853 by German immigrant Henry Engelhard Steinway in a Manhattan loft on Varick Street. Over the next thirty years, Henry and his sons developed the modern piano. They built their instruments one at a time, applying skills that have been handed down from master to apprentice, generation after generation, ever since. The STEINWAY became the choice for ninety-eight percent of concertizing artists, none of whom are compensated to endorse the instrument.
‘Dear Mr. Steinway,
I am very happy to have the opportunity of using your pianos for my concerts. I consider them to be perfect in every way.
