We had the opportunity recently to check out the latest models from Eastman and S.E. Shires, specifically the new 800 tenors and bass from Eastman and the Q series from Shires. The Q series is a collaboration between Boston and Tianjin with Boston-made Shires components being shipped to Eastman’s own Tianjin low brass factory for assembly before being sent back to Shires for finishing and testing. Meanwhile the 800 series is a complete redesign from Eastman’s current Eastman by Shires line in an effort to update the Eastman trombones with the latest innovations coming from Shires.
