U of M Saxophone Series: Davide Nari & Federico Gerini Concert and Master Class at Schmitt Music Brooklyn Center

The University of Minnesota School of Music Saxophone Studio and the Schmitt Music Saxophone Shop present a Free Master Class & Performance with “Duo Brillance” – saxophonist Davide Nari and pianist Federico Gerini!

Davide NariDavide Nari has played in hundreds concerts as soloist, in chamber music concerts and symphonic orchestral productions in Italy and abroad (Switzerland, France, South Korea), and he gives master classes. He is winner of many national and international Music Competitions and he currently teaches saxophone at the “G. Bruno” Musical High School in Albenga and he is the artistic director and saxophone teacher at the Musical Society “S. M. Immacolata” in Loano (SV).

Davide Nari opteined the degree in Saxophone at the “N. Paganini” Conservatory of Music in Genoa, the degree in Chamber Music at the “G. Nicolini” Conservatory in Piacenza (Italy) and the “LTCL” degree at “Trinity College” of London; he also studied orchestral conducting (M° D. Renzetti and others). He has performed in National Premiere pieces written by contemporary composers and he has performed also jazz music with international level artists. Davide is endorser artist of the brands “Légère Reeds” and “Silverstein Works”.


Federico GeriniFederico Gerini is an Italian Pianist and Teacher. Born in Massa (Tuscany) in 1981, he studied classical piano at the “Puccini” Conservatory of La Spezia and graduated with honors in 2003. He earned a Law Degree in 2007, and followed a two-year Master program in Repetiteurship and a Master degree program in Piano Pedagogy, graduating in both with distinction. He studied jazz music for two years at the CPM School in Milan, attaining a degree in 2003, and then at the Siena Jazz Foundation International Summer Courses in 2004.

From 2010 to 2015 he worked as a Repetiteur, piano accompanist and member of the orchestra at the Puccini Festival of Torre del Lago. From 2014 to 2017 he worked as piano accompanist at the “Paganini” Conservatory of Genoa, and specialized in classical sax repertoire. He has collaborated over the years with several Italian theaters such as Verdi Theatre in Pisa, Giglio Theatre in Lucca, Goldoni Theatre in Livorno, Ente Luglio musicale Trapanese in Trapani, Alighieri Theatre in Ravenna and many others. He has worked under the direction of many conductors like Daniel Oren, Jonathan Webb, Filippo Maria Carminati, Valerio Galli, Alberto Veronesi, Fabio Maestri, Lorenzo Parigi, Flavio Colusso, Nahel Al Halabi, José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, Bruno Nicoli, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Stefano Visconti. He has given concerts in Italy as well as in Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France.

He has published 9 records of classical music, jazz, radical improvisation and experimental, for important Italian labels such as Dodicilune, Setola di Maiale, Ars Publica, with the groups The Star Pillow, Perfetti / Gerini Quintet, oof3, Federico Gerini /Massimiliano Furia Duo, Duo Brillance (with Davide Nari on saxophone). Since 2017 a member of Laboratorio Permanente di Ricerca Musicale headed by Stefano Battaglia at Siena Jazz University, he focuses on total improvisation
and piano solo performance.
