Schmitt Music Edina teacher John Paul Donahue II has 30 students and teaches the style that he plays. Join us for an improvised concert showcasing his exciting “two-fisted” piano style. He’ll talk about the blues and answer your questions, too. There will be compositions from the pedagogy that he is working on as well as cds available after the concert.
Thursday, January 10 from 7-8pm
Biography: John Paul has performed at various venues including the Eau Claire Ragtime Festival, the MSP airport, and Menards in Eden Prairie. He is an in-store teacher at the Edina, who’s been sharing his music for 14 years. This has led to teaching piano for the past 3 years. He enjoys the challenge of unmasking each person’s innate musical expression with the goal of having each student play the music from his or her heart. He is well versed in many styles and focuses on Boogie Woogie, Blues, Ragtime/Stride, and Improvising.
