A maple inner rim, found in only the finest pianos, increases structural integrity and improves the tone by isolating the soundboard. The patented Octagrip™ Pinblock provides a smoother pin turn and more consistent pin torque, leading to a more precise tuning.

GRAND PIANOS

Their tone is greatly enhanced due to the soundboard design, which incorporates a series of innovative and important features. The soundboard itself is crafted from solid spruce, which is what you would find in every high-quality piano … including the mighty Steinway concert grand. The soundboard is actually larger than those found in other brands of the same length due to the “wide-tail design” that results in a musical performance equal to that of a larger grand piano.

UPRIGHT PIANOS

Boston upright pianos are marvelous musical instruments that are the inspiration and the unique, proprietary design of Steinway & Sons. Each model features an all-wood action, with Steinway‑designed geometry that results in incredible sensitivity and responsiveness. Each model also features a solid-spruce soundboard, which is the most resonant material available for this purpose. The soundboard itself has been strategically designed so as to work as efficiently as possible, thus producing a rich and pleasing tone… with far longer sustain than many other upright pianos.
