Prince Rogers Nelson

The Minnesota-born artist known as Prince was a world-famous musical innovator, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and so much more.

During his legendary career, Prince Rogers Nelson became a cultural icon – he released 39 albums (more than 100 million records sold), was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, won seven Grammy Awards, an Oscar (“Best Original Song Score” for Purple Rain), and multiple American Music Awards. Prince died on April 21, 2016 – gone way too soon, but his music will live on forever!

Honoring The Purple One’s legacy on what would have been Prince’s 58th birthday, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton declared that Tuesday, June 7, 2016 was “Prince Day” in Minnesota.
