Select your preference from our various models and sizes:
Standard Series:
  • Symphonic Large - Very free blowing backbore that allows the orchestral player to use massive quantities of air without losing focus.  Commonly paired with either a #24, or #25 throat.
  • Symphonic - For players who prefer a free blow with less resistance than the #2 backbore.
  • Symphonic Chamber - This backbore offers the 'classic' feel that classical players have grown accustomed to.  With just the right amount of resistance this backbore has a bold beautiful tone.
  • Solo Chamber - A compact, and focused sound without adding great resistance. This backbore blends well for big band section playing without producing that strident sound known for lead trumpet playing. The compact, and focused sound pair nicely for piccolo trumpet playing.
10 Series:

The Pickett Brass #10 series backbores offer an overall different feel than the standard line.

  • 1 - Very free blowing orchestral backbore, commonly used with a #24-#25 throat to create that orchestral sound/feel that is desired in symphony
  • 2 - Our most popular classical backbore. The 10-2 creates a large sound without losing you with too much inefficient volume. This backbore offers that ‘classic’ backbore feel/blow that many have grown accustomed to.
  • 3 - This backbore offers slightly more resistance than the 10-2 without compromising the overall beautiful large sound. The attacks are more pronounced and speak quicker which creates a perfect mouthpiece for small group playing.
  • 4 - An extremely efficient backbore, offers a bright, focused sound. This backbore blends well for big band section playing without producing that strident sound known for lead trumpet playing.
  • 5 - A very compact backbore that produces a sound that is desired by lead trumpet players.  The added resistance will aid in sound projection, faster articulations, and efficiency.
Short Shank:

Pickett short shank backbores, designed for a more open feel.

  • CS - Very free blowing symphonic backbore.  The CS is a Symphonic short-shank backbore designed to help the intonation challenges associated with many C/D/Eflat trumpets.
  • DS - Open and free feel while maintaining intonation and slotting. Designed to be more free-blowing than the #CS, but without sacrificing much of the #CS’s core sound and playability.
  • OS - Designed for the orchestral player who desires that large/full sound that allows the player to use massive quantities of air without losing focus. Commonly used with #22-25 throats and deep cups. Pairs well with rotary trumpets.
Commercial Series:

Compact and efficient backbore series, providing support for the commerical player.

  • Open - Offers a slightly more open feel than the V, and C4 backbore.  The R backbore is a great option for players who love the articulation and response of the V, and C4 backbore, but wish for the extreme upper register to offer less resistance when pushed.
  • Medium - Extremely responsive with impeccable articulation throughout the full register of the horn.  The backbore offers great resistance creating an efficient and fast air-stream.
  • Tight - Produces a more aggressive sound than the 10-5, which aids in sound projection when playing with electronic instruments.  Very responsive with quick articulations, and creates that 'zing' in the sound if that is desired.
