Join Schmitt Music Bloomington for a special afternoon of performance and education featuring North Dakota State University brass faculty members Dr. Jeremy Brekke, trumpet, and Dr. Will Sutton, trombone, joined by collaborative pianist Dr. Ling Lo of the University of North Dakota.
This free event brings accomplished university faculty and professional musicians to Schmitt Music for an afternoon designed for brass students, educators, performers, and music lovers. The program begins with a faculty trio recital in the Schmitt Music Concert Hall, followed by dedicated trumpet and trombone masterclasses led by NDSU faculty members Dr. Brekke and Dr. Sutton.

Following the recital, students and brass musicians are invited to learn directly from NDSU trumpet and trombone faculty. Dr. Brekke and Dr. Sutton will lead separate masterclasses focused on musicianship, performance, technique, and the skills that help players continue developing at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Meet the Artists
Dr. Jeremy Brekke, Trumpet | North Dakota State University
Dr. Jeremy Brekke, Trumpet | North Dakota State University
Dr. Brekke is Associate Professor of Trumpet at North Dakota State University, where he teaches trumpet, high brass methods, brass chamber groups, jazz lab band, and jazz combo. An NDSU graduate himself, he brings a diverse performance background spanning orchestral, jazz, chamber, and contemporary music. He performs throughout the Upper Midwest with groups including the Bison Brass/NDSU Faculty Brass Quintet and Fargo-Moorhead Symphony and is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
Dr. Will Sutton, Trombone | North Dakota State University
Dr. Will Sutton, Trombone | North Dakota State University
Dr. Sutton is Assistant Professor of Music at North Dakota State University, where he teaches trombone, conducts ensembles, and contributes to the music theory curriculum. An active performer, educator, and clinician, he has appeared with organizations including the Kansas City Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Minot Symphony, Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, and Fargo-Moorhead Opera. He has also appeared as a soloist with the NDSU Wind Symphony and is an Eastman/Willson/Shires artist and clinician.

Dr. Ling Lo, Piano | University of North Dakota
Dr. Lo is Teaching Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at the University of North Dakota and holds Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in both Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Michigan State University. A passionate chamber musician and educator, she has performed throughout the United States and brings a strong focus on collaborative performance, education, and creating meaningful connections through music.
