Director of Trumpet Sales & Specialist

Dr. Ben Elgan is a Director of Trumpet Sales at Schmitt Music’s new Bloomington location. Dr. Elgan has spent most of his career working as a performer, and educator, and as a Research Fellow for the University of Florida. A Les Paul Foundation Grant recipient, he has presented his ideas on brass instrument design and its effects on perceived sound at institutions of higher learning, as well as furthered STEAM initiatives in K-12 schools. A crossover trumpeter, his professional performance credits include performances with the Ocala Symphony and the Gainesville Orchestra, as well as in commercial groups such as Less Than Jake, Sooza Brass Band, and Sister Hazel among others.

Dr. Elgan comes to the Schmitt Music team by way of Gainesville Florida – he’s lived here for a year and has become disillusioned with the snow like the rest of us, and is ready to shed his October parka and prepare for snow disc golf.
