Masters in Music Education
Determine the student's current position of education, skill level, goals, and ability to learn and focus - to approach them "where they are at".
Then work with them to convey information in the most interesting manner - guiding them in note-reading, theory, technique, ear training, soloing, performing with others and playing by ear.
Invitations to church performances, support in school performances, duets with sibling or parent, and lots of experience for them playing along with me on piano, guitar, or the woodwind instrument they are learning.
