Andy has performed as a soloist and accompanist throughout the United States and Europe. He’s an avid teacher, vocal coach, and theatrical music director, and has worked with many theaters and organizations in the Twin Cities, including Minnesota Orchestra, Children’s Theatre Company, and History Theatre. His performances can be heard on Minnesota Public Radio, A Prairie Home Companion, and Cantus’ albums A Harvest Home and Manifesto.

Andy has a doctorate degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Minnesota; he’s also served on its faculty, as well as at institutions including Hamline University and McNally Smith College of Music, and he has given master classes at colleges and universities across the country to a variety of skill levels. This translates to extensive experience with a wide variety of pianos, and a deep interest in finding the right piano for you.

35 years ago, Sue joined the piano sales staff at Schmitt Music, and then went on to hold several different management positions in the Keyboard Division of Schmitt’s. She feels her experience in the piano business has been a tremendous education, and it has also allowed her to be of service and advocacy to teachers and their students.

Sue has a bachelor’s degree in Piano from the University of Minnesota, where she also completed several years of graduate work in Medieval and Renaissance Music. Sue began teaching piano in 1970. She has served in many different capacities in the Minnesota Music Teachers Association -among them Honors Concert Chair, Vice-President for Contest, Contest Judge Coordinator, and for many years as an MMTA Foundation Board Trustee. She served as president of MMTA in 2003-2005.

She presently serves as Co-President of the MMTA Foundation. She also serves on the Board of the Chopin Society of Minnesota. She is an active member of Mpls Music Teachers Forum, Thursday Musical, St. Paul Piano Teachers Association, and Schubert Club.

Brent Rogers

A native of Lake Elmo, MN, Brent has a background primarily in choral music, but he has also played the piano for over 30 years. As a conductor he has received various accolades, including perfect scores at the NAU Jazz/Madrigal festival, prestigious scholarships, and multiple invitations to perform and conduct at Carnegie Hall. He has sung with such prominent ensembles as the Brigham Young University Singers and the Tucson Chamber Artists, and will join The Singers: Minnesota Choral Artists for their 20th anniversary season in the fall of 2023. He has also sung as a soloist both academically and professionally.

Brent has served as a collaborative pianist since the age of 12, and has accompanied many singers, instrumentalists, and choirs over the years, including multiple award-winning performances by his wife, soprano Kelsey K. Rogers. As a collaborative pianist, Brent has had the opportunity to perform on a wide variety of pianos. He therefore has extensive experience with the pros and cons of various brands and types, and can help guide you to the instrument that will best suit your needs and the needs of your family.

A native of Wisconsin, Michael was born into a family of both musicians and educators. Although he is a trumpet player by trade, Michael has always had a love for the piano and studied the instrument for over 10 years. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Luther College and his Masters of Music in performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. As a performer, Michael has received various awards and accolades including first place finishes at the National Trumpet Competition. He has also performed with ensembles such as the Boulder Symphony, Denver Brass, Boulder Philharmonic, and the Colorado Symphony where he performed with Lyle Lovett at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

Michael has worked closely with many pianists over his varied career in performance, academic, and studio settings. He feels these experiences allow him a deep understanding of the unique qualities found in each instrument.
