Designed and built by Manfred Schmelzer, Schmelzer trombones have been highly regarded for decades for their performance and nuance; in particular their small bore tenor trombones have been a well-known option commercial world for the player looking for a hand built instrument with unique character.
The Model 2 is one of the best known small bore tenors; taking inspiration from the past (such as Williams trombones) the Model 2 features a .508” bore handslide, 8” bell, reverse tuning slide and gold plated finish.
This Model 2 is in wonderful condition; outside of a one small area of wear on the bell, a few small scratches on the tuning slide and light wear on the contact points the gold plating is flawless, with no dings or dents present; the handslide has no wear on the inner tubes and is a 9.5/10 in performance. This trombone has a wonderfully dark and lustrous sound; at soft dynamics it is lush while maintaining clarity and has a nicely open blow for a relatively dense resonance. At upper dynamics it is incredibly powerful, with a ton of projection while maintaining core and stability and has a full lower register and a powerful upper range.
For the right player this can be a wonderfully versatile trombone (and it is a blast to play!) Comes with ABS hard case.
