Schmitt Music was the winning bidder to own and operate the former Reynolds Music, starting November 18, 2019. The store is located at 108 E. Main St. in Anoka, MN where it has served customers for over 40 years.
“We are thrilled to bring our unique products, services, and expertise even closer to our friends in the Anoka area.“
– Tom Schmitt, 4th-generation owner and president of Schmitt Music
Schmitt Music already serves Anoka area students with band and orchestra instruments, as well as repair services. The acquisition will provide a more convenient resource for existing and new customers.
As a local family-owned and operated music store, Schmitt Music was curious to learn more when we heard that the executor of the Reynolds estate was disposing of the music store assets. Our offer was accepted and we’re thrilled to bring our expertise, products, and services to charming downtown Anoka, Minnesota!

Schmitt Music believes that Reynolds Music is a logical extension of our people, products, and programs, and customers appreciate the convenience of shopping in Anoka with a family-owned business. Reynolds employees do good work and contribute to our local musical community, and we feel it’s important to help them remain in the music business for as long as possible. We are advocates of the Anoka-Hennepin music programs and are eager to further support the students, families, and educators to the best of our ability.
We believe that this addition to the Schmitt Music family will allow us to be a better and more supportive partner in the area, now and in the future. We hope to see you soon at Schmitt Music Anoka – formerly Reynolds Music.

I have several books “the Gospel Hour 60 favorite hymns scored for solo, ensemble or full band by Schmitt music centers – Publication division 110 North fifth street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55403. They come in several versions for different instruments. Are these still available? Do you have anything like them. There is a demand for this sort of books. John, Bowe’s International Marketing. Hello!
Schmitt Music sold its publishing division in 1978 to Belwin/Mills, now owned by Alfred Music.
Unfortunately, the “Gospel Hour” books are long out of print.
There are some similar titles still on the market from other publishers, like the Instrumental Hymns and Gospel Favorites books from Carl Fischer
or the Sounds of Celebration books from Hal Leonard.
Please feel free to contact me with any other print music inquiries.
Thanks,
