Barry Zhang in Recital in Overland Park

Please join us for a performance in by pianist Chi “Barry” Zhang at Schmitt Music Kansas City on Thursday, June 15 starting at 6:30PM.

On June 20th, Barry will compete as a semi-finalist in the Senior Division (15-18) of the 2017 Kaufman International Youth Piano Competition. Before the competitive performance, enjoy Barry’s program at Schmitt Music; featuring Bach, Beethoven, Ravel, Chopin, Debussy, Prokofiev and more.

Chi “Barry” Zhang is currently studying with Dr. Jack Winerock at the University of Kansas. His previous teacher was Dr. Slawomir Dobrzansky. He has been a prize winner in many competitions including 2nd prize at the 2015 IIYM international Piano Competition, 2nd place at the 2014 Fite Young Artist Competition, 3rd place in the 2014 Kansas City Symphony Young Artist’s Concerto Competition, and most recently was 1st prize winner of 2017 David Dubois Piano Competition. Barry was also the 1st place precipitant of the 2014 KCMTA-Heritage Philharmonic Concerto Competition, which lead to a performed with the Heritage Philharmonic Concerto under the baton of James Murray. Barry was the also the 1st place winner of the 2017 Midwest Chamber Ensemble Youth Concerto Competition, and he will perform with the Midwest Chamber Ensemble during the 2017-18 season.
