ROCK THE CANAL RETURNS TO GRANDMA’S SPORTS GARDEN!
Schmitt Music Duluth is a proud sponsor of ROCK THE CANAL tonight, Thursday August 9th – a music competition and fashion show for area teens at Grandma’s Sports Garden in Duluth’s Canal Park.
The 3rd Annual event will feature bands and acoustic performers at the popular canal park venue. Last year’s show featured 8 talents with “Sincerely Yours” winning in the band division and Jen West winning the acoustic division. Regional talents for this year’s event were selected by a panel of expert industry professionals and from a social media competition that took place on facebook. (www.facebook.com/rockthecanal)
Although the event is called ROCK THE CANAL it’s not just limited to rock music or rock bands. Once again, this year, there will be two separate divisions – an Acoustic Division for singles, duos and trios and a Band Division. Participants have to be 20 years old or under to participate!
The top Acoustic and Band contestants will receive the Grand Prize of 8 hours of studio time at Sacred Heart Recording Studio. Winners will also receive a “headliner” gig at the Encounter’s Red Room with professional photos, and guitars from Schmitt Music (one for the acoustic winner and one for the electric winner).
Also featured this year will be a back to school fashion show presented by maurices and Lundeen Productions. Models were selected from schools throughout the region and they will wear all the latest fashions for the 2012-13 school year from maurices.
Admission is $5 per person, doors open at 5PM with fashion show at 6PM and music competition beginning at 6:40PM. Proceeds, in part, benefit local teen programs and organizations.
