MINNEAPOLIS, June 16, 2003 Schmitt Music has acquired the Good News Piano and Organ Company of Colorado Springs, Colo. The sale closed on June 27, 2003. After an initial transition period, the store will operate under the Wells Music name, a division of Schmitt Music.

Good News Piano and Organ Company is the leader in the piano business in Colorado Springs. Current Good News President, Wally Mark, will stay on as a consultant to ensure a successful merger.

Schmitt Music has been in the piano and organ business in Colorado since 1989 when it acquired the Wells Music Company from Jordan Kitt's Music. With the addition of the Colorado Springs store, Schmitt Music will serve customers in Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs under the Wells Music name/

Minneapolis-based Schmitt Music, established in 1896, operates 21 stores in eight states. Locations include ten showrooms in Minnesota, including six in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Schmitt Music also has stores in Fargo, N.D; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Eau Claire, Wis.; Omaha, Neb.; and five stores in Missouri and Kansas. It also owns and operates Wells Music in Colorado.
