What is Small-Stars?
Schmitt Music Small-Stars is a group lesson program offering musical experiences for children 3 to 6 years old. Small-Stars students will be introduced to ukulele, hand drumming, singing, notes, rhythm and movement. Schmitt Music's passion is to help our customers pursue their musical dreams by providing you with the best possible education experience. We look forward to showing your child the joys of music and creating many Small-Stars!

Kelsey Grue - Brooklyn Center, Edina, & Roseville Lead Instructor
Kelsey Grue is a recent graduate from St. Catherine University (December, 2010). She holds a BA in Music Education and is a licensed Classroom/Vocal Music Instructor as well as a Classroom/Band/Orchestra Instructor here in Minnesota. As an active member of Music Edventures, Inc., she has had opportunities to work with leading Early Childhood and Elementary School music instructors around the world, in conferences as well as in classrooms. Through MEI's "sound-to-symbol" philosophy children are fully immersed in their musical experiences and are able to explore music through singing, playing, reading, writing and movement. In her class, children will be singing, dancing and reading Masterworks as well as folk music from around the world. They will be composing music and learning to play instruments. Kelsey's music class promises to be a joyful learning experience!
Emma Shukle - Burnsville Instructor
Emma Shukle is a recent graduate from St. Catherine University (December, 2011). She holds a BA in Vocal Music Education and is a substitute teacher in Westonka Public Schools, at St. Bartholomew's in Wayzata, and at Providence Academy in Plymouth. Miss Shukle has studied private voice for 10 years, studying repertoire from the Baroque Era to 20th Century vocal music. She has a choral background, a background in music ministry as a cantor/choir member, and has experience with musical theatre. Miss Shukle is an active member of Music Edventures Inc., and attends MEI workshops, as well as conferences for MMEA (Minnesota Music Educator's Association). Through MEI's philosophy of "Sound to Symbol," children learn elements of music by singing, playing, listening, reading, writing, and using movement. In her class, children will be singing, playing musical games, reading music through pictures, and rhythm scores, and start to analyze dynamics and forms of music by listening to Masterworks. Miss Shukle's music class will be a positive musical experience for your child!

Who can attend Schmitt Music Small-Stars? Schmitt Music Small-Stars is open to students ages 3-6!
Does my child need to have their own instrument? Ukuleles, sound shape, lollipop drums and other materials are included in the cost of the tuition. No worries!
Can I sit in during the 3 & 4 year old class? Sure. Feel free to join us for the 3 & 4 year old class sessions. You will have a great time!
Will my student have to practice?Yes. It is important to schedule a consistent, daily time to practice. Especially for those students that are participating in the ukulele and percussion classes.
Can I pay monthly? We ask that tuition is paid in full at the time of registration.
What else do I need to know? A handbook is provided online that will answer many questions that you may have including tuition, attendance, bad weather, and withdrawals.
