Students may use their own music or can use music that is requested from Schmitt Music. Students will have opportunities to purchase new music throughout the entirety of camp.

Daily Break Out Practice Time

Students will have 1 hour a day to practice any materials that have been assigned to them. This should be a productive hour! Teachers will wander and check in with all students during this time to ensure they are on task.

Rock Star Academy Teachers

Bethany Meyer

Bethany Meyer - Band Director

My name is Bethany Meyer and I am from Minneapolis, but I grew up in Podunk, MN. I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with my degree in Instrumental Music Education. I am a currently Strike Up the Band teacher through Schmitt Music, but I have had to be a substitute teacher, long term sub, musical director and vocal/trumpet teacher to get to this point in my career! I enjoy all kinds of music though classical is my specialty. I am a super artsy girl who loves to hang out and listen to/write/play good music!!

Matt Potter

Matt Potter - Woodwind Specialist

Matt Potter is a woodwind specialist that grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of St Thomas and graduated with a degree in instrumental and classroom music education. While at St. Thomas he primarily studied saxophone with Ruben Haugen. He currently teaches classroom music in the Eden Prairie school district. Matt teaches private lessons on all woodwind instruments as well as the piano. Between the hours of teaching he performs a variety of genres of music around the twin cities.
