McNally Smith College of Music Presents: Fingerstyle Guitar with Bobby Stanton
Saturday, October 20 at Noon, Schmitt Music Maplewood
Guitarist & Educator Bobby Stanton will give an overview of the development of the “Fingerstyle” genre, covering styles ranging from the earliest beginnings in Kentucky to modern Fingerstyle. You’ll also learn about Dead Thumb Blues, Travis Style, banjo on the guitar, open string ideas and harmonics.
Bobby is a graduate of Berklee College of Music where he was recognized for his dedication and talent being presented with the colleges first ever “Ovation” Award. Since his Berklee days, Bobby has performed with artists such as: James Taylor, Garrison Keillor, Gillian Welch, Bo Diddley, Susan Tedeschi, Livingston Taylor, The Temptations, The Drifters, The Shangralas, The Platters, among many, many, many, many others! A lifelong educator, Bobby currently teaches at both McNally Smith College of Music and Berklee College of Music.
