24 Nocturnes cd, Piano Concerto Easter bookWith over 400 pieces in print, Jackson’s works are for choir, orchestra, chamber, and a diverse repertoire for the piano. His Piano Concerto Easter 2015 was premiered April 12 by Anne Madison and Orchestra Omaha. At Schmitt Music Omaha, she and her colleague Yulia will present the concert in its two-piano version, as well as insightful commentary.

From Jackson’s newest piano collection, 24 Nocturnes, the audience will hear selections from this 7-year-writing project. From an explosion of fireworks to the last smoldering ember, there is a “Nocturne” for every experience. Many emulate existing keyboard works from some of Jackson’s favorite composers of the last four centuries. In this performance, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Debussy, in particular, will be spotlighted via the wonderful connection between Jackson’s compositions and their inspirations.

Assisting Jackson on Saturday, October 3rd will be Feifei Jiang, Rose Schneider, and Almeda Berkey. Whether it be elegant introspection, soaring expressionism, or driving and dynamic rhythmic works, Berkey’s palette of composition and performance is always a delight!
