Schmitt Music has a renewed commitment to the business of orchestral strings and service! Meet the staff of The String Shop:

Peter Schmitt is joining his family business as Manager of The String Shop, located at Schmitt Music in Brooklyn Center, MN. Peter joined the company in May after completing the violin repair program at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, Minnesota. Prior to joining Schmitt Music, he attended the Thomas Chippendale International School of Furniture Design and Construction in Gifford, Scotland, and after returning from the UK, operated a custom furniture and cabinetry business in Northeast Minneapolis for over 10 years.

Peter is excited that his passion for woodworking will now find expression in the construction and repair of string instruments within his family business. Peter, his wife Margit, and their two sons Paul and Timothy live in South Washington county. Please contact Peter at peter.schmitt@schmittmusic.com.

Kimberly Clark, the new String Specialist at The String Shop, is a native of Missouri.  She has been surrounded by music most of her life, starting piano lessons at age 7, trumpet at age 10, and violin at age 12.  In 2001, Kim graduated with a BME from Evangel University.  She also has a Master of Education from William Woods University and a MA in Religious Studies from Missouri State University.

Kim taught both band and orchestra with Springfield Public Schools and learned instrument repair from a luthier while enjoying her first music retail experience. She has toured most of the country performing on violin.  She has also performed with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, the Drury Civic Orchestra, the Missouri State University Community Band, and in private gigs around Springfield and Tulsa.  Kim can be reached at kimberly.clark@schmittmusic.com.
